**The #2 Sentinels (4-1) have been the premier team
league over the past seven years as they have captured 6
of 9 Open-Division Championships in the seasons they
have played in, including 3 straight undefeated seasons
for 2003-2005. They are looking to regain their
dominance after an early loss this year and
uncharacteristically falling short last winter and in
the fall.
**#5 FTW (4-1-1), is a new
team name full of familiar faces from the two-time
Open-Division Champion Vancouver’s Finest. After a slow
start, they are starting to get their players back and
are now facing their first open-divison foe following a
4 game winning streak.
-The Sentinels come into
this game with the #3 scoring offense in the league. QB
Chris Gonzalez has been nearly perfect this year with 16
TD passes against just 2 interceptions and 3 TD runs.
As usual, Gonzalez has an impressive arsenal of weapons
at his disposal which includes the familiar trio of
Brandon Lafferty (2 TD’s), Jason Bluth (1 TD), and Chad
Sorranson (3 TD’s), as well as touchdown leader Steve
Roach (4 TD’s). When this machine is clicking on all
cylinders they are impossible to stop.
VS.
-FTW will counter with the
#7 scoring defense in the league. This team revolves
around its pass rush and with the return of DL Greg
Gadbois (4 sacks), after a 4 game absence, and the
emergence of DL BJ Kelly (5 sacks) this defense
continues to improve each week. FTW also boasts a ball
hawking secondary lead by Fall League Defensive
all-stars Brennan Colston and Eric Graham, along with
Josh Anderson who has become one of the best playmakers
in the league with 4 INT’s, 4 Sacks, and a defensive
touchdown so far this season.
-FTW can light up the
scoreboard as well with a scoring offense that ranks #5
in the league. QB Brodie Kadow (8 TD’s 3 INT’s) stepped
in after the first game and has played well in place of
mainstay Chuckie Wattles. Kadow will look to Colston (5
TD’s) and Graham (2 TD’s) to lead the way on offense,
along with Anderson who has stepped up on offense as
well and currently leads the team in TD’s with 6.
VS.
-The Sentinels will matchup with the #5 scoring
defense. They have been able to bring pressure from all
angles with Gonzalez (4 Sacks), Micheal Bradford (5
Sacks), Reggie Erickson (5 Sacks), and Andy Gibbs (3
Sacks) all applying pressure. Unlike other top defenses
the Sentinels have only forced 4 turnovers this season,
relying instead on good position defense and sound
flag-pulling to dominate the opposing offense.
